Tacoma Has A Food Coop

Tacoma has a food coop.  A dedicated group of local food activists, now joined by hundreds of members, have brought us a food coop after years of careful planning. The Tacoma Food Coop is at the site of the former Neighborhood Market at the corner of 6th Avenue and Junett in North Tacoma and opens its doors on Friday, the 26th of August.

The coop is inspired by the dream of an affordable urban natural foods grocery that provides local organic and natural foods and builds a community around these foods.   The store will become the nucleus of a much larger circle of relationships that will directly impact the local food supply, health and well-being of the greater Tacoma community.  It will provide educational opportunities, access to healthy foods, and serve as a source of support for individuals and local businesses that practice sustainable, environmentally sound management.

The Tacoma Food Coop is a community based store.  It depends on its members and the local community for its success.  Visit its web page: http://tacomafoodcoop.com/ to find out how you can support your food coop.
